R. Thomas Boyer
President and Founder of Online Capital Management
Started Online Capital Management and Executive Benefits Consulting in 2018
Thomas Boyer grew up in Phoenix Arizona as the fourth child in a family of five. He attended Northern Arizona University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, and soon after graduation, moved back to Phoenix and joined Charles Schwab as a registered securities broker. During this time, Thomas was offered the opportunity to become an equity and options trader for some of the company’s most successful self-directed trading clients and began to understand, then, that he would like to pursue a career helping clients invest their money as an adviser. He left Schwab after 4 years to join a start-up firm in San Diego CA helping executives with major banks manage their term deposit portfolios. During this time, he attended graduate school and received a Master of Business Administration Degree in Finance with a focus on investment analysis, portfolio management and financial planning from San Diego State University. Upon graduation, Thomas soon rejoined Charles Schwab as a Vice President, Private Client Consultant, where he was the lead team member for an investment management service that within three years grew to more than $200 million dollars under management. The reputation Thomas earned helping clients invest their money with Schwab Private Client earned him an opportunity to become the sole, dedicated, Vice President-Executive Financial Consultant for 150 Schwab executives, their families and members of the Charles Schwab Corporation Board of Directors. In 2012, after six years as an Executive Financial Consultant at Schwab, Thomas was recruited to join Fidelity Investments as the San Francisco Bay Area representative for a new institutional division that provided financial planning, wealth management, and executive compensation benefits advice to fortune 500 company executives. Thomas spent 4 years with Fidelity, and a total of 10 years as a dedicated financial advisor for corporate executives where he learned first-hand the challenges many key employees and executives find when trying to balance their careers and personal lives with managing their corporate benefits and finances. Thomas left Fidelity to join an independent Registered Investment Advisor and soon learned that the only way he would be able to provide clients with the type of high level, independent service he dreamed of, was to start his own firm. So after more than 20 years of experience helping clients realize economic freedom he has taken everything he has learned and created a “best of class” institutional level advisory service from scratch for people of all walks of life and at a reasonable price. It’s a service that he proudly recommends to new clients, family members, friends, and relatives, and is the service that he dreamed he could offer his clients at other firms in the past but could not. He has never been more optimistic about the opportunity he has created for clients and for financial advisors who join his firm.
